File type for CNAME

Hi I would like to ask what is the file type for CNAME. Like for HTML we put "index.html" then CSS we have "styles.css". There is a period followed by the file type.

So my question is what is the file type for CNAME, how would we create the file?

CNAME doesn't have a dot extension but it is essentially a plain text file.
