I finally got Rails up and running. I couldn't do it on my Mac because there are too many hardware problems with it most likely preventing a successful OS upgrade. And Windows wouldn't work either. Turns out there is some glitch that is affecting a needed gem nokogiri. It only took installing Ubuntu on an old computer. But to make things faster, I am using a sold state disk. Well, what an ordeal...but at long last I can finally say hurray!
