Can't see the problem, I will include another attempt I made as well:

So here's the code that passes for me.

This was a bit of crock...

Why does the flash message have to be "to_user.id shouldn't it be "to_user.username"

Than hung me up for an hour...

flash("You've followed {}!".format(to_user.id), "success") # works

flash("You've followed {}!".format(to_user.username), "success") #fails..

pretty damn picky and wrong if you ask me.

Hello Josh,

Your first attempt is more or less ok if you add the

@app.route('/follow/<int:user_id>')
@login_required
def follow(user_id):

to the beginning. The only other thing that is wrong about your solution is that the id-attribute of the User-model is not called user_id but just id. So you will have to change user_id to id in the line where you create the to_user and in the line where you flash the message.

It's because in the scenario instead of a username attribute there was a user id attribute, so if you search for a username, it can't find one as it doesn't exist
