Functions Cdn

If i am willing to use a CDN

for bootstrap css and js

is it still better to create functions and including the functions in the header or can i just link it directly in the header and avoid function.

in other words what am i gaining by including function vs simply linking in the header?

I am not sure if this is what you are asking but what I typically do is ling directly to the cdn, but I also include a fallback.
