getlastmod() function gave a parse error: syntax error, after using it, please kindly help, thanks

<?php echo date('Y'); echo $displayname; echo "Last modified: " . date ("F d Y H:i:s.", getlastmod()); ?>

Please what could possibly be wrong with this, I didn't get the expected results. this is what i got,

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '"Last modified: "' (T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING) in /home/treehouse/workspace/index.php on line 44

$displayname should be $displayName. Variables are case-sensitive. You need to remove the period after H:i:s in the getlastmod date format.

Why remove H:i:s?
