Getting error for empty NSMutableDictionary

What is the difference between the following methods for empty MutableDictionaires?

NSMutableDictionary *shoeOrderDict = [NSMutableDictionary alloc] init];

VS

NSMutableDictionary *shoeOrderDict = [NSMutableDictionary dictionary];
