Git Commit

I can't seem to get the questions asking me to 'commit' correct. The previous question was to add the file index.html to the staging area, which I did successfully with "git add index.html". However, when it asks me to commit these changes, using "git commit -a" or git commit index.html" doesn't seem to work. Why is this?

Which exact step is this on? I'll take a look back.
