Godaddy Hosted account has a database name already — use that for MAMP?

I installed Wordpress into a subdirectory I set up for a site I am overhauling (wanted to keep the current site live but have a place where I could start creating the new Wordpress-based website). The subdirectory through Godaddy has a database name already. Should I use that for MAMP or does it matter since it's for local testing and doesn't need to connect to the internet? Would it just be used for FTP uploading in that case?

Sorry I ask so many questions!

It shouldn't matter for local testing. You might want to actually start a naming convention for local and live dbs so you can easily distinguish between them at a glance.

Ok. Are you familiar with GoDaddy, Zac? I know you guys work with a different partner here, but the database they have set up is linked in their backend and when I click on it, it sends me to a different page than MAMP does of phpMyAdmin (though the logo is the same) which is why I was confused. It looks like the same phpMyAdmin, but without the options of adding users and I don't believe you can add your own db either; looks like it's autopopulated by whatever GoDaddy sends it.

I will go ahead and name my own thing, though, just wondering if there were any thoughts to help clarify the above.
