Design Illustrator Foundations Creating an Icon Grouping Objects & Group Selection

Group Selection Not Showing Bounding Box

I am able to create groups, and using the group selection tool, switch between being able to manipulate one group layer and another. However, when I click through these layers, the grouped objects don't become highlighted with their bounding box, so I have to count how many times I click in order to know which group I'm currently working on, rather than seeing it selected. I've checked to make sure my bounding boxes aren't hidden (they're showing). It's only with the group selection that they aren't showing.
