Having trouble debugging jquery

SO I am having trouble seeing whats wrong with this code.... The only thing I see is that I don't know where the "Hello World" comes from. Any advice WITHOUTt giving me the answer will work.

What's different between the two?

Also, the hello world is added to the modal when the function is called at the bottom of app.js:
