JavaScript JavaScript Basics (Retired) Creating Reusable Code with Functions Returning a Value from a Function

Having trouble with a JavaScript function challenge (Returning a value from a function task 2 of 3)

Hello everyone, I am having trouble with this challenge. It asked me to copy and paste a line of code into a function I had created in a previous task, and also to return that variable within that pasted code. I follow all the steps to the best of my ability but it doesn't pass and also says my task 1 code is no longer working. What am I doing wrong here?

script.js
function getYear() {
  var year = new Date().getFullYear();
  return getYear();
}
index.html

<script src="script.js"></script>
</body>

Infinite loop

You are returning the function getYear() inside of itself which would result an infinite loop. Instead of this, return the recently created year variable and you should pass the challenge!

Ok I've tried that and it passed. Thank you!
