struct Expense {
    var description: String
    var amount: Double = 0.0

    init (description: String) {
        self.description = description
func calculateTaxes ( percentage : Double) -> Double{
return (self.amount * (percentage/100))

   var item = Expense (description : "taxes")
item.amount = 100
var taxes = item.calculateTaxes

You didn't say what the issues were, but it looks like the problem is this line: var item = Expense (description : "taxes")

and this one: var taxes = item.calculateTaxes

var item = Expense(description: "any description")
item.amount = 100
var taxes = item.calculateTaxes(7.5)
