Here is an excellent resource for learning Python for the first time ...

  • Starting Out with Python, 4th edition by Tony Gaddis.

You should buy or rent this textbook. A lot of colleges use this textbook, and for good reason. There are about 10-12 programming challenges, true/false and short answer questions after each chapter to help solidify the concepts. You're not just being lectured at and then left to figure out how to apply the concepts on your own. There are lots of code examples to help you understand the material too.

Out of my price range right now! So I'm checking for free college textbooks websites.
