Hi, Mamp vs Desktop server

Hi,

In the installing wordpress I used desktop server to host it locally, should I delete this and use Mamp instead, or can I use both. What would you suggest for a mac?

Does Desktop server have the ability to manage my sql and php?

Thanks- slightly confused.

Desktop server seems to be developed for Wordpress local hosting, witch probably is a good thing if you are only going to use wordpress. For a more "general" AMP stack i really recommend the Mamp (maybe even Pro). It works really well, and is easy to setup and customize for your needs.

DesktopServer is really easy to use, as well as allowing to use a Duplicator backup to create a local dev site. For example run Duplicator to clone a live site and then you can easily create a local dev site.

I personally have a problem with Duplicator. Its back up size is limited t0 150MB(for free) and I am getting nothing bur an error when I tried to install in on my new local site. Does anyone have same problem??
