Hidden attribute not woking with safari browser

I have been struggling with the hidden attribute on safafi browser. I need to hide certain options for this project but it's not working . all other browsers work fine except safari.

My code : colorEle.children[i].hidden =true;

i see on the HTML that the abributte has changed to 'hidden' but it's still visible. any tips on how to fix this? also colorEle.children[i].display.style = "none" not working as well
