How do I connect to a remote database (not localhost)

I have a remote server with mysql on it, and I have the ip and all the passwords. How would I connect my computer to the server through PDO's to transfer data?

get the ip address of the mysql database and the username/password

Your webhost should be able to help you with step by step if you ask them.
