How do I delete an item from the left navigation bar

I am trying to download the images folder into my workspace but it is just spinning. If I open the folder and bring the items in that way it works fine but bringing the entire folder does not work as it does for Nick. I also don't know how to delete an item from the left navigation bar once it has been added. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you may have to delete the folder in which the file is in.
