10,468 PointsWith your pen tool, you need to make sure the point of the pen is clicked right on the first anchor point you made to start drawing the object. You should see a small circle to the bottom right of the pen tool when you're hovering over the first point. Click on that and it should close the object.

19,488 PointsI have used fireworks a little. It seems to be a lot easier to use. Adobe products are very powerful but not very user friendly. Have to learn more on web development first. html is the easiest. Will learn more on Wordpress after studying more on css and php. Than more on Photoshop and Illustrator.

10,468 PointsThe pen is a tricky thing to learn, but I definitely recommend it if you plan on using Illustrator a lot. It's my most used tool, and I've been doing graphic design for a LONG time.
