How does the Treehouse IDE compare with the more mainstream IDEs?

Is it better to just get one now to get familiar with it since I won't be working in treehouse afterwards?

I assume you're asking about the workspaces. I find those very handy for a couple of reasons. They are easy to use so you shouldn't need to spend much time learning them that won't carry forward. And should you need to turn to the forum for assistance with something, you can make a snapshot and post the link to it to share the entire project for analysis by other students.
