How is the job market for web design?

I am wondering how the job market is for designers. I know there is a ton of work in development. If you know html/css, photoshop/illustrator, is there work for you?

I've found that in my area, being JUST a web graphic designer is harder than going beyond that and including HTML, CSS, Javascript, etc on top of that.

People always need websites, so depending on your area, there could be good work for freelancing to build your portfolio for those bigger companies.
