General Discussion

How long does Treehouse have left given they've laid off 90% of the employees who create and manage the content?

Now that it is public knowledge that Treehouse CEO Ryan Carson has laid off so many of the excellent staff here, it's a valid question, especially for those who are knew and subscribing with the intention of being here long term? There are officially just five full time employees left at the company, down from 45.

Hello everyone. I’m Ryan, the Founder and CEO of Treehouse.

Treehouse has served over 600,000 Students in the past 10 years, empowering you all to change your lives by learning how to code and design.

Our revenue began to decline in 2017 and a change in Google’s search algorithm in August of 2020 reduced our organic traffic by 40%. We decided to reduce the size of the team from 45 to 18 people (10 full-time and 8 contractors) in order to guarantee the stability of Treehouse going forward. We did not make this decision lightly however it was a necessary move.

This is the team that will continue to work hard to serve you all:

Teachers: Guil, Meg and Richard Student Success Specialists: Marie and Mel Student Success Manager: Rob

We will continue to work hard to serve our students and there will be no interruption or reduction in service.
