Courses Plus Student 71 Pointshow to connect my database server to iOS App
hi,
i am a beginner in iOS development, and to be honest, my education background actually is chemical engineering, so i am sorry if my question seems weird.
so I am learning iOS development using XCode and Swift programming language in intermediate level.
as a backend, the simple way I usually see is using Firebase. but if I don't want using firebase and want to build database server from scratch, what subjects do i have to learn ? I am wondering, how to connect my app with the database on the server. I think the structure is like this.
(my App) --> (PHP/Laravel) --> (Database/MySQL)
if i want to build database server for my app, i have to learn about database design and mySQL first and then learn PHP language and laravel to connect my App to the database
am I right ?
thanks in advance
cheers, Agung

iOS Development with Swift Techdegree Graduate 30,149 PointsIf you don't like Firebase then check out Realm. There are some courses available on here to Pro students. Realm will take care of it for you. You can have a Realm database on the users device and also on your server. Otherwise the learning curve will be very large for you to accomplish what you want to accomplish. Parse is open source now but iOS developers I know have told me its not being maintained well and to avoid it.
