How to create a booking system?

Hi My name is Gustavo and I am working on my work related project for my foundation degree in web technologies. I have been asked to deveop a website for a hair salon that has a booking system and I am a bit stuck in putting all the pieces together to build the booking system. The technologies I had mind to start to developing the site are HTML5, PHP and MySQL. I have previously studied all of the above in my course but PHP and MySQL, I have studied them separate so I dont know how to link the 2 together. By the way this is the first time I am creating a website. Is my chosen project to complex ?

Hi Gustavo,

In the course Using PHP with MySQL you can learn about connecting to and calling information from a database. You would have to take it a step further by building a front end UI so that stylists can add clients, schedule appointments etc. Would probably want clients to be able to login and schedule appointments as well. This is a project I've been thinking about trying to tackle using Ruby on Rails.
