How to loop through thousands of users or more

I have been wondering about this solutions that involving hashing or caching

This would be done server side. If you have a large scale number of users, your server would hash out the relation between you and your friends and simply feed your client (the phone) the appropriate information, probably in json format. on what to display. So this isn't an iOS issue at all. Something more like a javascript issue.
