How to make the bottom tip of the pen line parallel to the x-axis of the grid?

I am making the letter 'R' in Adobe Illustrator with the pen tool. The grid view is set to show. I want the entire bottom tip of the diagonal line in 'R' to be parallel (and overlapping) with the x-axis of the grid.
