How to type an Arrow on MacBook Air ?

Its maybe funny, but Im stucked here for too long. I googled almost all sites but nowhere is how to do it. Tried ,,Special Characters,, as well but it wasnt there.

Hold shift and then hit the period key. >>>

Suddenly, it still doesnt work... It writes --> or >>> but I need a normal arrow with dirrection on right side so Xcode can recognize it.

Well I guess that I found out that I only wrote - + > = -> and Xcode does recognize it now. Thank you for help ;)
