HTML HTML Basics Getting Started with HTML Lists and Links Challenge

I am in the HTML Basics course and stuck on an error for the following: <a href="pies.html"><li>Pies</li></a>

Please advise as to how I can get pass this challenge. Apparently, my code is wrong, when I think it is correct.

<!DOCTYPE html>
    <title>Lists and Links</title>
    <a href="cakes.html"><li>Cakes</li></a>
    <a href="pies.html"><li>Pies</li></a>
    <a href="candy.html"><li>Candy</li></a>

Hi Colleen,

You're close, but the links need to be inside the list elements. Right now, your syntax is a bit off as you have the list inside of the link.

So it should go like this:

<li><a href="cakes.html">Cakes</a></li>

with, the anchor tags are nested inside of the list-item tags.

Keep Coding! :) :dizzy:

Thanks Jason! I really appreciate your help. It makes so much sense now!!
