Alex at phpacademy/codecourse has published a more updated version here - it looks like you can watch the videos for free, however a premium account would allow you to download the videos and source code.

Unlike the series you've linked to he uses Composer and a few dependencies (Slim Framework, PHPMailer etc) but he goes through the steps in a good amount of detail that you can follow along. There are Treehouse videos on Composer and Slim Framework in this series if you need help getting started with them.
