Java Java Objects Harnessing the Power of Objects Throwing Exceptions

I am not understanding in which order I need to put these integers.

I have a question on the 'Java objects' track that asks me this:

Add logic to the drive method so that it throws an IllegalArgumentException if there aren't enough bars to support the laps request. Remember it takes 1 bar of energy to go around a lap.

Currently, I have a code that looks just like this:

class GoKart { public static final int MAX_BARS = 8; private String color; private int barCount; private int lapsDriven;

public GoKart(String color) { this.color = color; }

public String getColor() { return color; } public void charge() { barCount = MAX_BARS; }

public boolean isBatteryEmpty() { return barCount == 0; }

public boolean isFullyCharged() { return MAX_BARS == barCount; }

public void drive() { drive(1); }

public void drive(int laps) { int requestedLaps = barCount; if (barCount < 0) { throw new IllegalArgumentException("No more battery!!!"); } } }

I don't understand what variables I should Include in line 32 ( it sais "if (barCount < 0) {")

After all, It has been giving me an error that looks like this:

Bummer! Make sure you throw a new IllegalArgumentException if the requested amount of laps would make the battery less than zero.

Do you think you could help me?

Andrei

GoKart.java
class GoKart {
  public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
  private String color;
  private int barCount;
  private int lapsDriven;

  public GoKart(String color) {
    this.color = color;
  }

  public String getColor() {
    return color;
  }
  public void charge() {
    barCount = MAX_BARS;
  }

  public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
    return barCount == 0;
  }

  public boolean isFullyCharged() {
    return MAX_BARS == barCount;
  }

  public void drive() {
    drive(1);
  }

  public void drive(int laps) {
    int requestedLaps = barCount;
    if (barCount < 0) {
      throw new IllegalArgumentException("No more battery!!!");
    }
  }
}

You have to check if you have enough fuel for 1 round, also, why are you setting the requestedLaps equal to your BarCount?

so

public void drive(int laps) {
    if (barCount < 1) {
      throw new IllegalArgumentException("No more battery!!!");
    }
  }

if your bar count is below 0, you can't drive anymore
