I applied the hover state for the navigation just like the code on the video but it does not work. Does anybody know why

Double check your spelling and indentation, it should be able to work. I included both the CSS and HTML code of how it should look in your editor.

I think you need to change the nav a.hover to a nav a:hover (not a period).
