Python

I cannot open my square brackets in the shell

I have just started the Python track. Every time I go into the shell and press "alt" + "^`[" I do not get the square brackets I should. This does not happen when I am actually writing a problem. This is very problematic when following the discussion and could become more of an issue with dictionaries.

Thank you
