I created the classmethod but what other things am i to pass in

In this case should i return the pattern or output list

     @classmethod
     def from_string(cls, pattern):
        return cls(output)

    def __init__(self):
         pattern = ['.', '.', '.']
         super().__init__(pattern)

You won't need to pass anything into this method other than a string.

The instructions say the method "takes a string like "dash-dot" and creates an instance with the correct pattern". So you still need to:

  • convert the string argument into a pattern
  • return a new class instance that contains the pattern
