It means, set the text of the TextView (mTypeLabel) to show the spaceship type. It's a bit confusing using 'type' in the example when you're teaching people to code. It doesn't mean a type like int or String, it means the spaceship type (for example, 'FIREFLY' or 'ROCKET') that the example has talked about previously.
