Python Python Basics (2015) Logic in Python Try and Except

I do not know where to start . Try block

Hi James,

For this part of the challenge you start by adding a try block before you convert the two arguments into floats.

Next, you add an except to catch the ValueError and inside the except block you return None.

Finally, you create an else which the code where you return your total of the two numbers will sit.

Please see the below code for reference if you are still unsure:

def add(num1, num2):
    try:
        total = float(num1) + float(num2)
    except ValueError:
        return None
    else:
        return total

As you can see above, I created a variable "total" which holds the total of the two numbers because I think it helps to understand the code a bit more.
