I do not understand why it is not working

Question

This is the assignment

We previously added a FUEL_LEVEL to our spacecraft. Now in FlightActivity, we want to get the value that we put in the Intent. Start by declaring an Intent variable and getting the Intent used to start this Activity.

FlightActivity.java

public class FlightActivity extends Activity {

  public int mFuelLevel = 0;

  @Override
  protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
    super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
    setContentView(R.layout.activity_flight);

    Intent intent = getIntent ();
    String mFuelLevel= intent.getStringExtra("FUEL_LEVEL");
  }
}

For Task 1, all you need to do is get the intent, so underneath "//Add your code below!" write:

Intent intent = getIntent();

For Task 2, you need to: 1) set mFuelLevel to the value from the Intent and 2) Use "FUEL_LEVEL" as the key and -1 as the default value

..so checking the intent documentation, and scrolling to int, you'll find:

getIntExtra(String name, int defaultValue) Retrieve extended data from the intent.

Therefore, your code should be:

mFuelLevel = intent.getIntExtra("FUEL_LEVEL", -1);

Instead of

String mFuelLevel= intent.getStringExtra("FUEL_LEVEL");

it should be

mFuelLevel = intent.getIntExtra("FUEL_LEVEL");

because the member variable mFuelLevel is declared as an int. So it should be assigned an int and should not be declared again in onCreate method.
