Python Python Basics (2015) Logic in Python Conditional Value

I dont understand

Can someone explain this instruction to me this doesnt make sense to me at all

I've never touched Python in my life however it looks like you're setting a variable called "Admitted" and setting it to none. with the if statement starting below it looks like you're about to use or modify that variable based on a conditional statement.

Like I said, never touched Python before, so I could be wrong
