I don't understand why Hello "Alana, welcome to tree house" is the correct answer? $a = "Alana" not Treehouse.

$a = "Alena"; if ($a = "Treehouse") { echo "Hello Alena, "; } echo "Welcome to Treehouse!";

I could see why the answer could be "Welcome to Treehouse", but why is the Hello Alana being displayed. Is it because not else statement is being defined?

The "if" expression contains an assignment ("=") instead of a comparison ("=="). And an assignment of a non-empty string is considered to be "truthy".

Often a typo or other error will cause a change in program behavior but no fatal error. It's good to practice spotting this kind of thing.
