i don`t understand why shows me this result

ive made an if statement thats tells "if (mHnad.indexOf(tile) >= 0)" and when the imput is diferent from the string the error messege said "the word is '****' (word without the letter 'n') and i choose 'n'" the result shuld be '0' and i got '1'. why the result is 1 if the if statemant result shoud be false??

You do not need to have the indexOf in your if statement.

You simply need to check if the tile equals display and increment the count:

for (char tile : mHand.toCharArray()){

      if (tile == display){
      count++;
      }
    }
    return count;
  }
