i have tried everything i can think of on the second part of this code challenge, and nothing seems to work.

i know its a mess right now, but nothing seemed to work>

You need to concatenate (use the '+' operator) your greeting from the previous task with a string, as below:

let name = "kevin"
let greeting = "Hi there, \(name)"

let finalGreeting = greeting + ". How are you?"
