There were quite a lot of things which were new to me in the course.So should I first build a couple of apps and get more acquainted with pure Javascript or get started with this jQuery course and then build apps?

16,814 PointsThat depends on what you want to do, JQuery is cross-platform javascript library, it focus in DOM manipulation. i suggest you to take the jquery course, JQuery is awsome :) and the course is short
