I need you guys to critique my work. Thanks!

As part of the extra credit of Illustrator Foundations and home practice I need your opinion on my work.

I have created an icon for my wife business, she's a dola (accompanied pregnancy and childbirth).

Thank you for your help :)

Hi Dor,

I am web developer (not designer) and I will try to give you some input from that perspective. First of all great work and I see that you are really inspired with what you do :) I assume you will use this design for your logo as well (?)

If yes,

  1. Shape is something that goes on my nerves as web developer. We often have problems with designers that are just focused on their creation and the way how they see it. Of course, developers do not want to limit designers but please have in mind that this will be part of your website (maybe) and part of many print items. Your design will make it hard for developer or designer of your website to make nice looking header where logo will not take all of the place. Of course, it is possible but just for the future reference have in mind that your design will probably be used in many other purposes.

  2. In order to solve issue nr. 1 I would say that you separate the title from the body but I really really like what you did with letter "D" and therefore do not do it. One thing that you could change is the ending of the title. Right now it looks like something abstract and it does not finish your AMAZING message that you have started with letter "D".
Maybe you can transform that part into hands-shaped-silhouette so it can really say something.

  3. This is again very subjective thing but I would involve 1 additional color in the logo. Black and white can be dominant but maybe just a little bit of color would give it more warm impression.

Again, I am not designer and most of these things that I've said are subjective but now you have some thoughts from my side. I hope I helped and great work :)

I like your answer,

I like the idea of the hands-shaped-silhouette, it's like "hands that take good care for you an your baby", I'll try to preform it on this :). This is an icon, the only real use of it is for stamps (I think). The next step of it is a circle that center of the circle are the outstretched hands that holds the sunset in the shades of the colors orange and black. So, the finale logo will be a circle, is this what you meant?

Thank you for this, helped a lot :)

I love it! But you might reconsider the D!

Thanks a lot!

The client (my wife), asked for the D to be in the same curves as the women.

What exactly in need reconsider in the D?

Looks great - have you tested it as an icon?

Resize it down to something like 32 pixels to see if looks clear and eligible.
