WordPress How to Make a Website with WordPress Installing WordPress Domain Names, Hosting, and WordPress

If purchase a domain name with Web Hosting For Students, will I lose my domain name should my account with Treehouse end

I am trying to find a domain/server for a personal portfolio and I am worried that Web Hosting for Students will only be available for students. My domain name needs to last should my account with Treehouse end.

Welcome to the coding world lol. Yes, you would still be able to use Treehouse to develop Wordpress. Hosting for Students is just an option, along with BlueHost. I would recommend that you use Namecheap.com for buying your domain, and then use Hosting for Students or BlueHost for hosting services.

That's what I did, and I currently have 4 Wordpress sites online. I'll help you every step of the way if needed. That's what everyone is here for.

THANK YOU. You have no idea how reassuring that is. Did you learn coding through Teamtreehouse?

I checked out Namecheap! It too seems promising. It also offers hosting services. Why do you recommend I purchase my domain through Namecheap and then transfer to Bluehost for hosting? If I did this, would I still pay namecheap monthly for the domain and then Bluehost monthly for the server?

What do you use your wordpress sites for? Business, blog, portfolio?

That's something you should ask support for Hosting for Students. Get a ticket.

I would have! The get a ticket system is ingenious! However, I do not have an account with them yet (because of my question about my domains possible dissipation), and am therefor unable to get a ticket.

If you're looking for a great hosting site, I would recommend BlueHost. You can still keep your domain name as well. You would just have to point the servers to BlueHost from the site you bought your domain name from.

As you can probably tell, I am completely new to the realm of coding, and really appreciate your help. I just quickly looked into Bluehost and it looks entirely promising! If you wouldn't mind, I still have a few basic questions that I would really welcome any insights with. If I were to host and purchase my domain name from Bluehost as opposed to Hosting for Students, would I still be able to use Treehouse to help me develop my Wordpress? (Perhaps this is entirely obvious, but please, bear with me.) (And again, I would submit a ticket to Bluehost, however, like Hosting, I need an account to do so.)

I've been learning Ruby through TTH. HTML, CSS, and Wordpress, I taught myself when I was 19.

I recommended Namecheap for buying domains because it is very cheap lol, and it's very user friendly. Plus, they have a great tech team for domains. I recommended BlueHost for hosting because they're very trust-worthy. They're actually grandfathered in as a wonderful hosting service. I just tried them out a couple months ago, and been happy ever since. I used to use MediaTemple, but they're too expensive.

I use Wordpress for Blogging, but I made others for business, portfolios, and music.
