Any idea why I'm not getting the R4 for iPhone Portrait iOS 5,6?

Select the "LaunchImage" image asset and then on the utility pane select the last tab which is the Attributes inspector. You should be able to toggle the various formats. Try toggling the portrait format for previous versions of iOS to see if that helps.
