Inlining Critical CSS Into HTML Using Node And Express

When I needed to inline some CSS into my HTML files, I just let Gulp do it for me. But now with Express, my templates (or views) are rendered when a request is made, so I can't pre-compile them with Gulp. Does anyone know a solution for inlining CSS into my Pug templates? I have already tried "express-inline-css" and "express-inline-css-amp" and neither one fulfilled my needs.

I'm looking forward to your answers!
