Installation process of mysql

Hi,

when i am trying to install the older version of community sever ver.5.6.10. My mac told me that i have newer version, hence cannot installed it. How should i remove the newer version?

is this the reason that there is no connection with server when I am setting up workbench on new sever instance?

Cannot use workbench ver 5.2.44 with new update server community?

here is my workbench info when trying to set up new sever instance: Could not connect to MySQL server: Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (61) You may continue if the server is simply not running.

Thank you.

i know this is a stupid question but, do you have a mysql server running?

oh and why are you trying to install an older version?

it doesnt really matter, you can still do the course with a more recent version of mysql and you wont notice any difference
