installing git on OS X Lion."Segmentation fault: 11"

When I install git to my macbook pro MC 723LL on OS X Lion, I tried to get the version of git by typing command " git --version". Then I got this error massage "Segmentation fault: 11". Can anyone help me to solve this issue. thank you!

This probably down to the age of the OS. Try uninstalling Git and then installing an older version, 1.8.x.

By the way. Could you please show me how to uninstall git from my macbook pro ( OS X Lion)? I am a Window user, and just switch to Mac OS recently. Look like git is not an application, so I do not know where to find uninstall file. Thank you very much!
