integration with paypal which can prevent the default redirect

Hi I am trying to preventDefault() redirect to paypal as soon as you press the add to cart button. I would prefare to have a shopping cart widget which increments the amount of products you want along with a subtotal. I have looking on the developers tools on paypal and build my own but so far I have not been successful. Please can someone give me a solution. I would be very grateful.
