Try

if(UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() == UIUserInterfaceIdiomPhone) { CGSize result = [[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds].size; if(result.height == 568) { // iPhone 5 } }

Works for me, not exactly sure why your code isn't working for you.
