3,309 PointsIs it always necessary to link a javascript program to an html file. Can it not be run standalone? If so is there a IDE?

2,934 PointsJavascript is used outside of the browser now on server side (node.js) and also you do have some standalone implementations like Rhino (mozilla). Many different programs also use variations of javascript for scripting within their own programs. It depends what you are planning on doing though.
