Is there a big difference between Laravel 4 and the latest version Laravel 5.4 ?

I am in the middle of an internship project that requires Laravel 5.4 (homestead/vagrant) skills, is it Ok to have the laravel 4 course? what are the main differences ?

There are quite a few differences. I would recommend checking out laracasts, since Teamtreehouse hasn't updated their Laravel series.
